Bilt points transfer to Marriott Bonvoy at a base ratio of one to one. Marriott's official partnership page adds 5,000 Bonvoy points for each 20,000 Bilt points moved in a single transaction. That last phrase is the detail to check before pressing the transfer button.
Current X discussion about hotel transfer bonuses often focuses on the biggest percentage. For this partnership, transaction size matters too. A bonus can help fund a stay, but it should serve a booking you want rather than turn an available balance into a reason to take a trip.
Compare the block with the exact shortfall
A hypothetical transfer of 20,000 Bilt points produces 25,000 Bonvoy points under the stated rule. A 40,000-point transfer produces 50,000. Two separate transfers of 10,000 each do not reach the required block in either transaction. Treat the bonus as part of that one transfer, not an annual total you can assemble afterward.
Write down the Bonvoy balance already held and the price of the room you need. If the gap is smaller than a bonus block, compare topping up only the gap with transferring a larger amount. The extra hotel points have value only if you have a sensible use for them. Leaving flexible points untouched can also be a useful choice.
A transfer does not reserve a room
Marriott says transfers are usually immediate but can take up to 48 hours. Its FAQ also says an authorized transfer cannot be canceled, changed or refunded. Check the current account terms and displayed amount before submitting. This is not a temporary move you can undo if the hotel search disappoints.
Our guide to Marriott reward repricing explains why the price should be checked for the complete stay. Open the actual room result, confirm guest count and look at the cash charges left over. Record the cancellation deadline separately from the points total.
Include other ways to fund the stay
If a Free Night Award is available, read the certificate top-up guide before treating a bank transfer as the only solution. For a longer stay, the fifth-night reward guide shows why one night's headline price cannot settle the full calculation.
Sharing an existing hotel balance can be another option for an eligible family. Read the award-night and elite-credit explanation when several rooms are involved. Funding more rooms does not automatically produce more personal qualifying nights.
Keep the alternative use of your Bilt points in view. A transfer ratio is a conversion rule, not a valuation. Our program directory can help you compare currencies. The Bonvoy hotel-versus-airline guide explains the next decision once points sit in the hotel program.
Build the trip around a useful room
A pre-cruise hotel should fit the port transfer, not just the bonus. Check Cruise Frog’s port directory and Lounge Frog’s airport directory while comparing locations. A cheaper reward far from the route can leave a larger transport bill.
Save the transfer confirmation, the expected credited amount and the room confirmation as separate records. The best result is a booked stay that fits the journey, with a clear explanation of where each balance went. A bigger bonus number is only one part of that result.
