Bilt will move points to Hyatt at 4:3 from January 1, 2027

Bilt Points move to World of Hyatt at 1:1 until December 31, 2026. From January 1, 10,000 Bilt Points will become 7,500 Hyatt points.

Bilt Rewards will cut the rate for moving points to World of Hyatt next year. From January 1, 2027, Bilt Points will transfer to Hyatt at 4:3 instead of 1:1. That means 10,000 Bilt Points will become 7,500 Hyatt points.

Bilt posted the change on its Hyatt transfer page on October 1, according to NerdWallet's report. One Mile at a Time and The Points Guy report the same date and ratio. One Mile at a Time says the new rate applies to all members, whatever their Bilt status or card.

What the change costs

The new rate means you need a third more Bilt Points for the same Hyatt stay. A few examples:

  • A 15,000-point Hyatt night needs 20,000 Bilt Points from 2027, up from 15,000.
  • A 30,000-point night needs 40,000 Bilt Points, up from 30,000.
  • A 60,000-point stay needs 80,000 Bilt Points, up from 60,000.

Put another way, each Bilt Point buys 25% fewer Hyatt points than it does today. For many Bilt members, Hyatt has been the main reason to collect the points. This change hits that use directly.

Bilt follows Chase

The timing is no surprise. Chase moved Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred transfers to Hyatt to 4:3 on October 1, 2026. We covered that change in our story on Chase's new Hyatt ratio. Hyatt also raised award prices earlier this year, according to NerdWallet.

Bilt has not given a reason for its change, according to One Mile at a Time. The new rate does not take effect until 2027, though. Until December 31, 2026, Bilt Points still move to Hyatt at 1:1.

Should you transfer before January?

There is a case for moving some points before the new year. But there is also a case for holding back. Here is how to decide.

Move points now if you have a real stay in mind. If you plan a Hyatt trip in the next year, look up the points price and move what you need before December 31. That locks in the 1:1 rate for that stay.

Do not move your whole balance on a hunch. Once Bilt Points become Hyatt points, they follow Hyatt's rules and cannot come back. Bilt Points can also go to airlines and other hotel programs. A big transfer with no plan gives up that choice.

Mind the timing of Hyatt's own rules. Hyatt points expire after 24 months with no activity. Moving points in December for a trip in 2028 is a gamble on prices and plans holding steady.

Where this fits

Bilt Points still transfer to many other airline and hotel partners. Our Bilt Rewards page shows how we value the points. Points Frog also has a guide to how combining Hyatt points works, which matters if you plan to pool points with a partner before the change.

The bigger picture is clear. Two of the main ways to reach Hyatt points now cost more. Chase's change covers Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred, so check the rate shown in your own Chase account if you hold other Chase cards.

My take

I would move Bilt Points to Hyatt before January only for stays I can name. The new rate can still beat paying cash at some Hyatt hotels, so this is not the end of the road. But a one-third markup is real, and I would now compare Hyatt against Bilt's airline partners before every transfer.
