Two World of Hyatt members can combine points for an award redemption, but each member may only send or receive points in a combining transaction once every 30 days. Hyatt's official request form requires active accounts and both members' signatures. The points move into one member's account for redemption.
That timing rule matters when more than one trip or relative is involved. Receiving points now can affect another planned transfer within the same period. Check both participants' recent activity before treating the combined balance as ready for an immediate hotel booking.
Give the transfer a specific booking purpose
Search the hotel, full stay and actual party size first. Write down the balance already held by the intended booking member and the extra amount needed. A room result is a starting point for the calculation, not proof that the same room will remain available while a request is processed.
Use our Hyatt rewards and status guide and the Hyatt date-sensitive pricing guide to review the reward side. If the room price varies across dates, compare the total reservation rather than multiplying one low nightly figure.
Check the calendar for each participant
Record the last point-combining transaction for the sender and the receiver. The limit concerns participation in either role. Do not plan a chain of transfers as though receiving and sending create two separate allowances.
Keep the planned request date and the hotel booking deadline together. If the trip needs an immediate confirmed room, preserve a suitable alternative. A form submission should not be treated as a completed transfer or a reserved room. Ask Hyatt about the processing expectations for your request.
Our Guest of Honor guide explains a different way a member may help another traveler. The suite-upgrade guide covers another separate award. Combining a points balance does not automatically transfer those certificates or personal benefits.
Agree who controls the resulting balance
Hyatt's form says the transferring member relinquishes rights to the combined points once they are deposited in the recipient's account. Agree in advance who will make and manage the reservation and what the family expects if the trip changes.
Use the official form and the contact instructions provided by Hyatt. Keep account credentials private; a signed request is not a reason to share a login. Retain the submission details and verify the credited balance before attempting to spend it.
The club-access award guide helps identify a benefit that needs its own hotel and stay checks. The Points + Cash comparison can help if the family is weighing another funding option. Compare actual terms, not just the ease of moving points.
Keep the hotel connected to the journey
A pre-cruise stay must work with the terminal and transport plan. Use Cruise Frog’s port directory to compare that side of the trip. For flights, Lounge Frog’s airport directory can help you plan the airport stop without choosing a hotel merely for its loyalty category.
When the transfer is complete, save the hotel confirmation and cancellation deadline separately from the transfer record. Confirm the room and occupancy rather than assuming a larger balance completes the trip. Point combining is a useful tool when both accounts qualify, the timing works and the resulting booking solves a real travel need.
