IHG has opened InterContinental Taipei, its new flagship InterContinental in Taiwan. According to IHG's announcement dated October 12, 2026, the hotel has 347 rooms in the Taipei Dome complex in the Xinyi District.

As an InterContinental, the hotel is part of IHG One Rewards, so members can earn points on paid stays and book reward nights. IHG's release does not give a points price for a night.

The hotel

The hotel was developed by Farglory Group. It is the partners' second InterContinental, after InterContinental Kaohsiung.

Here is what IHG says guests will find:

  • Classic rooms from about 38 square meters, or roughly 410 square feet.
  • Suites from about 76 square meters, or roughly 820 square feet, styled like apartments with a full kitchen, a dining area and in-suite laundry.
  • Views of Taipei 101 from some rooms.
  • A Club InterContinental lounge.
  • Seven places to eat and drink, including restaurants led by chef Akira Back.
  • Event space, an indoor pool and a fitness center.

Xinyi is Taipei's main business and shopping district, and Taipei 101 is its best-known landmark. The Taipei Dome is a large indoor stadium, so expect busy nights when big events are on.

"Taipei is a city of extraordinary energy and modernity," said Robbert Manussen, IHG's area general manager for luxury and lifestyle in Taiwan and general manager of the hotel. He added that the team wants it to "feel like a hotel that belongs to Taipei."

Using points here

IHG reward night prices change with demand, so the same room can cost far more points on a busy date. Before you plan a stay, search a few dates on the IHG app. If an event at the Dome pushes up cash rates, it may push up points prices as well.

Two IHG rules are worth knowing for a city stay like this. First, a reward night can still carry some local charges, so read the rate details before you book. Second, IHG lets you book reward nights about 50 weeks out, which helps if you want to lock in a price early. We explain both in the related reading below.

If you hold an IHG co-branded card from Chase, check whether your card gives you the fourth reward night free on longer stays. That benefit depends on the card, not on hotel status.

Club InterContinental access is another factor. Lounge access is often sold as a room type, so compare the club rate in cash or points with a standard room plus breakfast. For a short work trip, the club may be worth it. For a longer stay, a standard room may make more sense.

Getting to Taipei on miles

Taipei is served from the US by several airlines, which gives you options to fly there on miles. Our program directory lists the airline programs we value, including EVA Air Infinity MileageLands and China Airlines Dynasty Flyer. Compare the flight and the hotel in the same currency before you choose which balance to use.

My take

A new InterContinental in Xinyi with Taipei 101 views is a strong addition for IHG members. I would check points prices on a few dates first, since stadium events could make some nights expensive. If the club lounge is priced fairly, I would take it for a short stay.
