Hyatt's Aeroplan offer is most useful as a bonus on a stay you already want. I would register and link the accounts, then keep the hotel decision focused on location, rate and cancellation terms. A few extra airline points should not persuade you to book the wrong room.
The official Hyatt offer says linked members can register by November 11, 2026, to earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per eligible US dollar, alongside standard Hyatt earning, on qualifying stays completed by February 14, 2027. Read the full terms for eligible spending and participating properties.
Three examples, with the spending base made clear
If a stay has $300 of qualifying spend, the offer produces 450 Aeroplan points. At $800, it produces 1,200 points. At $2,000, it produces 3,000 points. These are examples based on eligible spending, not a promise that every dollar on the final bill counts.
Taxes, excluded charges and a nonqualifying booking channel can change the earning base. I would not multiply the headline room total until the promotion's definition of eligible spend is clear. Save the folio so you can reconcile the credited amount after checkout.
Keep the two programs separate in your notes
Hyatt points and Aeroplan points are different balances. Earning a small amount in both can be useful, but it does not combine them into one pool. Our Hyatt points-and-cash guide helps with the hotel comparison. Use the Aeroplan calculator separately when estimating the airline points.
The estimates on those pages are planning tools. They are not cash rebates and should not be added to the budget as guaranteed savings. I would give the extra Aeroplan points a conservative value, especially if I do not already have a practical redemption in mind.
A more expensive hotel can erase the bonus
Consider two equally suitable hotels, one costing $80 more for the stay. If the more expensive option earns 1,200 extra Aeroplan points, you would need to value those points at more than 6.6 cents each just to cover that difference. That is an arithmetic threshold, not a suggested valuation.
If the Hyatt property is better located or offers benefits you will use, those can justify a higher rate. Make that judgment directly. Do not let a points promotion take credit for a room upgrade or a shorter commute that is the real reason you prefer the hotel.
Register before you need the credit
Check the account linkage, registration confirmation and qualifying checkout date. A registration deadline and a stay-completion deadline are different. Put both on the trip checklist and keep the relevant confirmation with the reservation.
I would also treat the separate Aeroplan status challenge as a separate decision. Earning bonus redeemable points on a hotel stay does not itself complete a flight-status challenge. Our original partnership story links the two offers, but each has its own requirements. Take the easy extra earning where it fits, then resist adding travel solely to make a promotion feel worthwhile.
