World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan have launched two new offers for members who link their accounts. Hyatt is paying 1.5 bonus Aeroplan points per US dollar on stays through February 14, 2027. Aeroplan has also opened a status challenge for Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members.
Both offers build on the partnership the two programs announced in July. To use either one, your World of Hyatt and Aeroplan accounts must be linked.
1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar at Hyatt
According to Hyatt's offer page, linked members who register can earn 1.5 Aeroplan points for each eligible US dollar spent at participating Hyatt hotels. The key dates are:
- Register between October 14 and November 11, 2026.
- Stay between October 14, 2026 and February 14, 2027, after you register.
The Aeroplan points come on top of your normal World of Hyatt base points. There is one condition to watch. Hyatt says the bonus applies only if you chose to earn World of Hyatt points, or Aeroplan points in place of Hyatt points, for that stay. If you picked another partner's points, the bonus does not apply.
Some other rules from the terms:
- Only the room you stay in counts.
- Give your World of Hyatt number when you book or before you check out.
- Bonus points do not count toward Hyatt elite status.
- Allow up to eight weeks after the stay for the points to post.
At 1.5 points per dollar, a $500 stay earns 750 Aeroplan points. That is a modest extra, but it costs nothing beyond a few clicks. The registration window closes well before the stay window, so register now even if your trip is months away.
An Aeroplan status challenge for Hyatt elites
Air Canada's status challenge page lists a new path to Aeroplan Elite Status for Hyatt elites. You must hold Explorist or Globalist status when you register, with linked accounts in good standing. Members without either status cannot register.
You then have 90 days to earn Status Qualifying Credits (SQCs) on eligible flights. The targets are:
- Explorist: 8,000 SQCs for Aeroplan 25K.
- Globalist: 8,000 SQCs for 25K, 12,000 for 35K, 17,000 for 50K or 25,000 for 75K.
The 90 days start when your registration is confirmed, which can take up to 48 hours. Flights must depart within that window. Air Canada allows a 120-day crediting window afterward for SQCs that post late.
Status earned this way lasts until January 31 of the second calendar year after the year you register. Air Canada also says you can register for an Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge only once in a calendar year. So if you register in late 2026, you cannot try a second challenge until 2027.
Who should care
The points offer is for anyone who stays at Hyatt and collects Aeroplan. Register, check that your accounts are linked, and stays will add Aeroplan points on the side.
The status challenge is narrower. It suits a Hyatt Globalist or Explorist who has a run of Air Canada flights coming up in the next three months. Aeroplan 50K and higher bring Star Alliance Gold benefits on partner flights, so the top two levels are worth the most to frequent flyers. Price out your planned trips in SQCs before you register, since the 90-day clock starts right away.
Where this fits
Our Aeroplan page shows how we value the points. We also wrote about the partnership's launch in July.
My take
I would register for the 1.5-point offer today, since it pays without any extra effort. For the status challenge, I would wait until I had flights booked that clearly reach the target. Ninety days goes fast, and you only get one try a year.
