Finnair Plus sells Avios at up to 50% off through Nov. 16
Big purchases paid in yen work out to about 1.06 cents per Avios, the lowest Finnair price this year, and those Avios can move to British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus or Qatar.

Finnair Plus is selling Avios at up to 50% off through Nov. 16, 2026. At the top discount, members can buy Avios for about 1.06 cents each, One Mile at a Time reports. The outlet calls it the best price for buying any kind of Avios this year.
The sale runs from 12:01 a.m. Eastern European Time on Nov. 2 through 11:59 p.m. Eastern European Time on Nov. 16.
The discount tiers
The deal grows with the size of the purchase. One Mile at a Time lists these tiers:
| Avios purchased | Offer |
|---|---|
| Up to 4,000 | None |
| 5,000 to 19,000 | 30% bonus |
| 20,000 to 49,000 | 35% off |
| 50,000 to 84,000 | 40% off |
| 85,000 to 200,000 | 50% off |
Purchases also earn Finnair tier points equal to 10% of the Avios bought. That helps members chasing Finnair Plus status, but has little value for others.
Paying in yen can cost less
Finnair lets buyers choose the currency they pay in, and the base price differs by currency. One Mile at a Time gives these normal prices:
- Japanese yen: 3.33 yen per Avios, or about 2.11 US cents
- US dollars: 2.17 cents per Avios
- Euros: 0.021 euros per Avios, or about 2.36 US cents
At current exchange rates, yen is cheapest, then dollars, then euros. With the 50% discount and payment in yen, the outlet says 200,000 Avios would cost about $2,110. That is roughly 1.06 cents each, including taxes and fees.
Exchange rates move, so check the final price in your own currency before you pay. Your card may also charge a foreign transaction fee on a yen purchase.
Who can buy
The offer is limited, according to One Mile at a Time:
- You must have joined Finnair Plus before Oct. 30, 2026.
- You need at least 50 Avios in your Finnair Plus account.
The outlet notes that those 50 Avios can come from another Avios program. Members can move Avios between linked programs at the same value.
Why Finnair Avios are useful
Finnair Plus uses Avios, the same currency as British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Qatar Airways. Avios can be moved 1:1 between these programs once accounts are linked. So Avios bought from Finnair can end up in whichever program prices your trip best.
One Mile at a Time also points to Finnair's own awards. It says Finnair Plus has an award seat guarantee, so there is often space when booking far ahead. Surcharges on Finnair awards are mild, the outlet adds.
If you plan to move Avios to Qatar or British Airways, link the accounts first. We explain how to link Qatar and British Airways Avios accounts before a live booking.
How it compares with past sales
One Mile at a Time compares this offer with earlier Finnair sales in 2026. Recent "up to 50% bonus" sales worked out to about 1.41 cents per Avios. Recent "up to 40% discount" sales came to about 1.27 cents. At about 1.06 cents, this sale is the cheapest of the group.
If you already hold Chase points, there is another way to add Avios this month. Chase has a 30% bonus on Avios transfers through Dec. 1. That uses points you already have instead of cash.
Which card to use
Finnair's Avios sales are processed by Points.com, so they usually do not count as airfare on your credit card, the outlet says. It suggests using a card where you are working on a sign-up spending goal, or a card with a strong everyday earning rate.
Before you buy
Buying points only makes sense with a plan. A few checks help:
- Price a real award first in the program you plan to use.
- Add taxes and surcharges to the total cost.
- Check the program's expiration rules so the Avios stay active until you book.
The math is simple. If you would otherwise pay cash for a ticket, compare that fare with the cost of the Avios plus fees. The sale is a good deal only if the award saves you money.
