Citi ThankYou members have a new transfer bonus to consider. From October 25 through November 14, 2026, Citi is adding a 10% bonus to points moved to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. The offer ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on November 14, according to LoyaltyLobby.
AwardWallet notes that this is the first time Citi has offered a bonus to Asia Miles since July 2024. If you have been saving for a Cathay business class seat, the timing may be good.
What you get
The bonus is applied on top of your card's normal rate.
- Citi Strata Elite, Strata Premier, Prestige and AT&T Access More: 1,000 ThankYou points become 1,100 Asia Miles, up from 1,000.
- No-fee ThankYou cards: 1,000 ThankYou points become 770 Asia Miles.
Transfers must be at least 1,000 points and go in 1,000-point steps. Reports say Citi transfers to Asia Miles usually post right away, but don't count on that for every transfer.
You may need to sign in to your Citi account to see the offer.
Where the bonus helps most
Asia Miles is a oneworld program. That means you can use it on Cathay Pacific plus partners such as British Airways, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and Royal Air Maroc.
One More Mile at a Time points out a key detail. Cathay holds back most of its premium award seats for Asia Miles members. If you want Cathay's own business or first class, Asia Miles is often the best, or only, way to find the seat.
AwardWallet gave a few examples of what the bonus does to the math.
- Some business class awards on British Airways or Royal Air Maroc can be booked for about 58,000 Citi points with the bonus.
- Cathay business class between San Francisco or Los Angeles and Hong Kong prices at 91,000 Asia Miles in the 5,001 to 7,500 mile distance band. That works out to about 83,000 Citi points.
- A trip from Los Angeles to Sydney through Hong Kong falls in the 7,501-mile-plus band at 119,000 Asia Miles, or about 109,000 Citi points. AwardWallet says the routing works with one connection of 24 hours or less.
Those are real savings on big redemptions. On a 119,000-mile ticket, the bonus saves you around 10,000 Citi points.
Things to know before you move points
Points transfers can't be reversed. Before you transfer, search for award space on the Cathay website and make sure the seats you want are open. Then move only what you need.
Keep in mind that Asia Miles expire after 18 months with no activity, according to One Mile at a Time. Earning or spending miles resets the clock.
Citi is not the only way in. Asia Miles also partners with American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt and Capital One. Amex points move at 5:4, so this Citi bonus gives you a better rate than Amex's standard one. If you hold points in more than one program, compare before you choose.
Is it worth it?
A 10% bonus is modest. But it is the first Citi bonus to Asia Miles in more than two years. If you already have a Cathay trip in mind, it is a solid reason to book before November 14. If you don't have a trip lined up, there is little reason to move points just for the bonus.
