British Airways has announced two more Avios-Only flights for summer 2027. On these flights, every seat in every cabin can only be booked with Avios. This time the destinations are Palma, Majorca, and Heraklion, Crete, both from London Heathrow in August 2027.

British Airways announced the flights on October 21, 2026, and said seats would go on sale on ba.com on October 22. The flights are only for members of The British Airways Club.

The two flights

Both trips leave on Saturday, August 14, 2027, and return a week later, on Saturday, August 21. That is peak summer, when Reward Seats are often hardest to find.

All prices are round trip, per person. British Airways says checked baggage is included as standard on the Palma flight.

The Palma flight leaves Heathrow at 12:50 p.m. and lands at 4:20 p.m. local time. The Heraklion flight leaves at 11:25 a.m. and lands at 5:30 p.m. local time.

What those Avios are worth

Points Frog values Avios at 1.3 US cents each in our points value catalog. That is a typical redemption estimate, not a cash price. Here is what each seat costs at that value:

  • Palma, Euro Traveller: 28,000 Avios, or about $364 in Avios value
  • Palma, Club Europe: 49,000 Avios, or about $637
  • Heraklion, Euro Traveller: 33,500 Avios, or about $436
  • Heraklion, Club Europe: 60,000 Avios, or about $780

The cash part is small. It is £5 in Euro Traveller and £40 in Club Europe.

To see if a seat is a good use of Avios, compare it with the cash fare for the same dates. If a cash ticket to Palma costs more than about $364 plus the £5, the Avios seat beats our average value. If it costs less, you may do better paying cash and saving the Avios.

The Companion Voucher angle

British Airways says holders of a British Airways American Express Credit Card can use their Companion Voucher on these flights.

The voucher gives a second seat for no extra Avios, with only the taxes and charges to pay. Solo travelers can use it for 50% off the Avios price instead.

That can double the value. Two people flying to Heraklion in Club Europe would pay 60,000 Avios, not 120,000, plus taxes and charges for both seats. At our estimate, the second seat saves about $780 in Avios value.

What else British Airways said

British Airways launched Avios-Only flights in 2023. It says it has operated over 50 of them, to places in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.

The airline also says it guarantees a minimum number of Reward Seats on all of its flights. So if these dates do not work, you can still look for Reward Seats on other days.

Tips before you book

  • Check what is left. Seats went on sale on October 22. Search ba.com for current space before you move any points.
  • Line up the Avios first. You need the full amount in your British Airways Club account to book.
  • Read the voucher terms. Companion Voucher rules can vary by card. Check yours before you plan around it.
  • Plan the whole trip. The flight is fixed at one week, so book a hotel for August 14 to 21.

The bottom line

British Airways' newest Avios-Only flights run from Heathrow to Palma and Heraklion on August 14, 2027, and back on August 21. Economy starts at 28,000 Avios plus £5 round trip. At our 1.3-cent estimate, that is about $364 in Avios. A Companion Voucher can cut the cost for two people in half.
