What is on offer

SAS EuroBonus has reopened its paid status match through StatusMatch.com, and this time it is worldwide. Elite members of 84 airline programs can buy a matching EuroBonus tier with no flight challenge attached: Silver for €89, Gold for €199 and Diamond for €349, including tax. Verified residents of Poland and India pay €39, €79 and €159. The offer went live on October 14, 2026, has no published end date, and closes when the quota of matches runs out. The fees, the airline table and the exclusions are on StatusMatch.com's FAQ.

The list of eligible programs is long and covers most of the world outside SkyTeam: American, United, Alaska, JetBlue and even Southwest from the US; British Airways, Lufthansa, Iberia, Finnair, Turkish and Aegean in Europe; Qantas, Virgin Australia, Cathay, JAL, ANA, Emirates and Qatar further afield. Not every tier maps to every SAS level, so check the table for your own program. Excluded outright are all SkyTeam members, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air Portugal and Etihad. Residents of China, Brazil, Argentina, Hong Kong and Taiwan cannot apply.

Why a SAS match is worth more than it was

SAS joined SkyTeam in September 2024. That turned EuroBonus Gold and Diamond into SkyTeam Elite Plus, which means lounge access and priority handling on Delta, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic and the rest of the alliance, not just on SAS. A matched Gold at €199 is therefore one of the cheapest routes to Elite Plus that exists, which is exactly why SkyTeam statuses are excluded from the match: the alliance does not want its own elites buying a second status.

The matched status runs for the rest of the current EuroBonus qualification year plus the next full period, so up to about 23 months, after which normal requalification applies. It does not count toward lifetime Gold or Diamond.

The rules that trip people up

Your current status must have been earned by flying. Status that came from another match, a challenge or a temporary promotion is declined. You cannot use the match to extend a EuroBonus tier you already hold, whether earned or previously matched. The name on your EuroBonus account must match your identity documents, because StatusMatch.com runs an electronic ID check and may ask for proof of status. Applying over a VPN can get you refused. Decisions take about three business days once documents are in, and the status shows in the account within ten. Disputing the card charge afterward can get the status suspended, and the agreement is governed by Singapore law.

How it compares

In March 2026 the paid match was limited to British Airways members in a few European countries at the lower €39/€79/€159 prices. The October reopening lifts the country restriction, adds 80-odd programs and raises standard prices, while keeping the old prices for Poland and India. SAS EuroBonus also picked up two Frequent Traveler Awards on October 12, including best elite benefits in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as we covered in our EuroBonus piece; a Gold match is the cheapest way to test whether the award is deserved. Our EuroBonus calculator values a point at about 1.1 cents, which has no bearing on status but matters if the match leads you to credit flights there.

Who should pay

A oneworld or Star Alliance elite who flies SkyTeam a few times a year and wants lounge access on those trips. A Southwest A-List or Companion Pass holder with no international status at all. Anyone planning a year of Delta or Air France flights who cannot reach Elite Plus organically. For a traveler who never touches SkyTeam, €199 buys a card that opens no doors; skip it.
