A Marriott card discussion on Reddit highlights a detail that can change the value of a spending offer: a three-month total is not necessarily the same as three separate monthly requirements.
In the original thread, a commenter described a targeted Chase Marriott offer paying 5,000 bonus points after $2,500 in eligible purchases in each of October, November and December 2026, for up to 15,000 points. The terms shared in the thread give an October 14 registration deadline.
This is a reported targeted offer
We have not verified a universal public offer or confirmed eligibility in any reader's account. The post is evidence that users described receiving these terms, not proof that every Marriott cardholder has them.
Because the reported registration date has passed, this story is a reminder for people who already registered, not an invitation to enroll now. If your own offer has different terms, use those terms.
Check the message from the issuer or the offer shown in your account. Do not rely on a forum screenshot to determine whether a particular card or purchase qualifies.
Monthly requirements change the arithmetic
If an offer requires $2,500 in each month, spending $7,500 in one month does not meet all three monthly targets. The distinction matters near October's end.
As an illustration, $3,000 in October, $2,000 in November and $2,500 in December totals $7,500. Under the reported monthly structure, however, November falls short. A running total across the whole period would hide that problem.
The headline bonus also works out to two additional points per dollar when exactly $7,500 of eligible spending earns the full 15,000-point bonus. That calculation does not assign a cash value to the points or include the card's normal earning.
Use purchases you would make anyway
Our advice is to compare the bonus with planned spending, including the rewards available from another payment method. Do not buy unnecessary items solely to make a monthly target.
If a purchase carries a card fee, include it in the comparison. A bonus can be less useful when obtaining it creates a cost that would otherwise be avoided.
Also read how the offer handles returns, adjustments and transaction timing. Those details should come from the terms in your own account; they should not be inferred from another user's experience.
Keep a record for each month
Save the registration confirmation and the offer wording. Track the eligible amount for October, November and December separately rather than keeping only one three-month figure.
If the account display is unclear, ask the issuer to confirm progress before making another purchase. A pending transaction and a posted eligible purchase may be treated differently under the relevant terms.
The Reddit replies include different views about whether the bonus is attractive. We are not treating those opinions as a valuation of Marriott points or as a survey of cardholders.
We reviewed the original discussion on October 30. Its useful lesson is specific: check the registration status and each monthly hurdle. For broader rewards coverage, see Points Frog news, and use your own issuer offer as the final source for eligibility and timing.
