Loyalty programs · By Points Frog Editorial ·
KrisFlyer lets members nominate up to five people for reward redemptions under the program's conditions. That list is not a joint mileage account. Naming someone can make them eligible to receive a reward booked from your account without moving your miles into theirs.
Check the traveler details first
Use the current nominee tool and its rules for adding, changing or removing people. Enter names as they appear on the travel document used for the booking. A nickname that looks familiar in an account can create a problem when the ticket must match a passport.
Read any waiting periods or fees before assuming the list can be rebuilt immediately for a new group. Do not add speculative names solely because spaces are available. Start with the people you are likely to book for and the trip you intend to take.
Nomination does not create reward availability
Imagine a member has enough miles to cover two hypothetical rewards and adds a partner to the nominee list. The next step is still to search for two seats on suitable flights. The ability to issue a reward to that partner does not make another seat appear.
Compare the full itinerary and cash charges for both passengers. If only one reward is available, consider whether a separate cash ticket creates an acceptable plan. Booking one person first can leave the other with a costly or inconvenient alternative.
Agree who will manage any change or cancellation. The account holder should retain the ticket references and know how the miles and charges will be handled under the fare's rules. Paying for someone's travel can be simple when responsibilities are clear before the ticket is issued.
Use official account tools and keep login access secure. Sharing a password is not the same as appointing a redemption nominee. The nominee arrangement answers who can receive a reward; it does not transfer ownership of the whole account or remove the ticket's conditions.
A practical way to decide
Choose the person who will manage the booking before moving any points. That person should keep the confirmation, passenger details and cancellation deadline. Agree on how the group will handle a canceled trip or a change in who is traveling. Shared travel can be simple when those decisions are made before the booking becomes urgent.
Keep each member's login private and use the program's own sharing tools. A transfer, nominee list and household balance are different arrangements. Write down which one you are using and who can redeem the points afterward. Check that the full party is included in the final price, rather than building the plan around the price for one person.
