The offer
Kris+, Singapore Airlines' pay-and-earn app, turns six this month and is marking it the way it does every year: by raising the earn rate for October. In Australia, every one of the roughly 300 participating merchants in Sydney and Melbourne pays 10 KrisPay miles per Australian dollar from October 1 to October 31, 2026, in place of the usual 3, 6 or 9. Selected online partners are included, among them JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys digital gift cards bought in the app. There is no cap on the 10-mile rate and no registration; the miles land in the app the moment you pay. The details are in Singapore Airlines' October 1 release and on the Kris+ Australia page.
With eleven days left as of October 20, the offer is still running.
How to use it
You pay with the Kris+ app by scanning the merchant's QR code, with a Visa or Mastercard loaded through Apple Pay or Google Pay; American Express is not accepted for Kris+ in Australia. KrisPay miles must be transferred to KrisFlyer within 21 days at 1:1, and the app can do that automatically from the Wallet menu. Whatever your credit card earns on the purchase comes on top, so a card that pays a mile or more per dollar on dining pushes the combined rate past 11 miles per dollar on a restaurant bill.
Mainly Miles counted 163 merchants in Sydney and 156 in Melbourne, up from about 200 a year ago. Most are restaurants, cafes and bars. The gift card route through JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys is the way to earn on a big purchase, within the app's limit of four gift cards a day.
What it is worth
Our KrisFlyer calculator values a mile at about 1.3 US cents, roughly 1.8 Australian cents. At 10 miles per dollar, a A$100 dinner returns about A$18 in miles, an 18% rebate. A couple spending A$1,500 on eating out and gift cards over the month would bank 15,000 KrisFlyer miles, close to the price of a one-way Saver economy award from Sydney to Singapore. For a Sydney or Melbourne resident who was going to spend the money anyway, it is the best earn rate on everyday spending that any airline program offers in Australia.
Compared with past years
The Australian rate was 10 miles per dollar in 2024, 15 in 2025 and is back to 10 in 2026, with the merchant count roughly 50% higher than last year. In Singapore the Birthday Bash pays 8 miles per S$1 at 65 partners, down from 9 last year and 10 the year before, with weekly 50%-off vouchers and new-user codes on top.
Two things to check
The official Birthday Bash Australia page still showed the 2025 edition's 15-mile rate when we looked, which has confused some readers; the 2026 rate is 10, and the press release and the Kris+ Australia page are the authoritative sources. And the miles are KrisPay miles until you move them, so set the auto-transfer before the first purchase. Miles that sit in the app past 21 days are gone.
