Canada finally has a Hilton Honors credit card. American Express Canada and Hilton launched the Hilton Honors American Express Card on Oct. 29, 2026. Hilton says it is the chain's first co-branded credit card in Canada.

The card has a $150 annual fee. Supplementary cards cost nothing extra. The release does not name the currency, but this is a card for the Canadian market.

What the card earns

According to Hilton's release, cardmembers earn:

  • 6X Hilton Honors points on eligible purchases at Hilton properties
  • 4X points on eligible gas, grocery and dining purchases in Canada
  • 2X points on all other eligible purchases

Those are the full earn rates Hilton published. The 4X bonus applies only to gas, grocery and dining purchases made in Canada, so the same purchases abroad earn the base 2X.

Gold status from day one

Every cardmember gets complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status. Hilton lists the Gold perks as bonus points on stays, a daily food and beverage credit or continental breakfast (it varies by brand and region), space-available room upgrades, digital check-in and free Wi-Fi.

There is also a path to the next tier. Cardmembers who spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year earn an upgrade to Diamond status. Hilton says Diamond adds executive lounge access, a 48-hour room guarantee and 100% bonus points on eligible stays.

A 50,000-point spending bonus

Cardmembers who spend $12,000 in a calendar year can earn 50,000 bonus Hilton Honors points each year. That bonus is on top of what the spending itself earns.

Here is the simple math for someone who spends exactly $12,000 on "everything else" at 2X. That spending earns 24,000 points. Add the 50,000-point bonus and the total is 74,000 points for the year. Shift some of that spending to Canadian groceries, gas or dining at 4X and the total climbs.

Welcome offer

Hilton's release does not list a welcome bonus. On X, the Canadian personal finance outlet MoneySense reported that the welcome offer is up to 70,000 points plus a Free Night Reward. We have not confirmed those terms on an official Amex page, so treat them as reported on X and check the application page before you apply.

Standard Hilton Honors perks still apply

The release also points to the usual Hilton Honors features. These include no blackout dates on reward stays and no resort fees on stays booked entirely with points. Members can mix points and money. Members also get the fifth night free on eligible reward stays booked fully with points.

On the Amex side, cardmembers get Amex perks such as Front Of The Line presale access, travel insurance coverage and 24/7 Global Assist.

Why it matters

Hilton says its Honors membership in Canada has grown by more than 40% since 2023. Until now there was no Hilton co-branded card in the country. A dedicated card with instant Gold status gives Canadian Hilton guests a direct way to earn.

The fee is low next to many premium cards. The real question is how much you spend at Hilton and in the 4X categories. If you stay at Hilton a few times a year, Gold perks such as food credits or breakfast can offset part of the fee. If you rarely stay at Hilton, a flexible points card may serve you better.
