Capital One has added a new airline transfer partner. As of Nov. 2, 2026, Capital One miles can move to Copa Airlines ConnectMiles, the loyalty program of the Panama-based Star Alliance carrier.

To mark the launch, Capital One is adding a 30% bonus on Copa transfers through Dec. 1, 2026. The catch is the base rate. Copa does not transfer one to one from Capital One, so even the bonus leaves you just short of even.

The key terms

Capital One has not put out a press release on the new partner. The details below come from Frequent Miler, InsideFlyer and PointsYeah.

DetailWhat it is
Standard ratio2 Capital One miles to 1.5 ConnectMiles
Launch bonus30%
Rate with bonus1,000 miles to 975 ConnectMiles
Bonus ends11:59 p.m. Eastern, Dec. 1, 2026
Minimum transfer1,000 Capital One miles

At the standard rate, 1,000 Capital One miles become 750 ConnectMiles. With the 30% bonus, the same 1,000 miles become 975. So 40,000 Capital One miles would land as 39,000 ConnectMiles while the bonus lasts, according to PointsYeah.

InsideFlyer says Copa brings Capital One to 23 transfer partners. Capital One's own transfer partner guide explains how its 2:1.5 partners work. At the time of writing, that page did not yet list Copa.

Citi and Rove still transfer at a better rate

Copa has been adding ways to earn its miles. Rove added Copa in September, according to InsideFlyer, and Citi ThankYou added Copa in October. Both of those transfer at 1:1 for eligible members, according to Frequent Miler.

That means a Citi point, on a card with an annual fee, still buys more ConnectMiles than a Capital One mile does, even with this launch bonus. Frequent Miler's take was that you are "better off right now with Citi and Rove" if you hold those points.

Capital One can still make sense if most of your points sit there. If you only need a few thousand ConnectMiles to finish a booking, a small Capital One transfer during the bonus may be the simplest path.

What ConnectMiles are good for

Copa is a Star Alliance member. Its program can book Copa flights and flights on partners such as United, Avianca, ANA and Turkish Airlines. It also has partners outside the alliance, including Emirates, KLM, Azul and GOL, according to PointsYeah.

Bloggers have pointed to a few uses:

  • Emirates business class. InsideFlyer and Frequent Miler cite a one-way saver business award between the U.S. and Dubai at 80,000 miles, with no carrier-imposed surcharges. Taxes and fees still apply. Both warn that this space is hard to find.
  • Copa flights to Central America and the Caribbean. PointsYeah lists saver awards from 15,000 miles in economy and 30,000 in business from parts of the southeastern U.S.
  • Star Alliance to Europe. PointsYeah lists partner flights between the U.S. or Canada and Europe at 30,000 miles in economy and 70,000 in business.

These prices come from the outlets above, not from a Copa release. Check Copa's own site for the exact price on your dates.

Other Capital One bonuses this month

This is one of several Capital One offers running now. Capital One also has a 20% bonus to Flying Blue through Nov. 30 and a 30% bonus to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Virgin Red through Nov. 20. See all current offers on our transfer bonus page.

Before you transfer

Transfers from Capital One are one way. Once miles land at Copa, they cannot go back.

  • Find the award seat on Copa's site first.
  • Make sure the name on both accounts matches.
  • Compare the price with Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles and Turkish, which all take Capital One miles at 1:1.
  • Plan to finish by Dec. 1 to get the bonus.

Frequent Miler posted the news on X, and one reply summed up the math: the bonus brings the rate to "almost 1:1."
