Hilton launched the feature, called Pay with Points, on October 21, 2026. It works inside the Hilton Honors app during Digital Check Out, so there is no need to stop at the front desk.\n\nHilton says it is the first major hotel brand to offer this kind of points payment through a fully digital check-out.\n\n## Who can use it\n\nPay with Points is a benefit for elite members. It is open to Hilton Honors members with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Diamond Reserve status. Hilton's release lists only those four tiers, so base members are left out for now.\n\nThe feature is only at participating hotels in the U.S. for now.\n\n## How it works\n\nWhen you check out in the Hilton Honors app, you can review your folio, which is the itemized bill for your stay. The app then shows the points options that are available. You choose one and apply points to eligible charges. Hilton says the whole process is done by the guest in the app, either at the hotel or on the go.\n\nHilton did not say in its release which charges count as eligible, or how many points each dollar will cost. It says availability and redemption options may vary by property. Check the app before you count on points to cover a specific charge.\n\n## Where it works\n\nThe rollout will be gradual.\n\n* **Now:** 150 participating hotels in the U.S.\n* **By the end of 2026:** more than 800 hotels.\n* **Early 2027:** a full rollout to more than 6,000 participating properties in the U.S. and Canada.\n\nHilton calls this a test-and-learn approach. That suggests the details may change as more hotels join.\n\n## Why Hilton is doing this\n\nHilton says the feature came from member feedback. According to Hilton's own research, 70% of Hilton Honors members surveyed are interested in using points for purchases at the hotel. About half said the option could make them more likely to stay or book with Hilton.\n\n\"Loyalty is personal, and every Point a member earns represents a choice they made to stay with us,\" said Brad Anderson, vice president of the Hilton Honors program, in the release. He added that members \"can already redeem them for free night stays or money-can't-buy experiences around the world.\"\n\nThe new feature joins other Hilton app tools such as Digital Check In, Digital Key and Choose Your Room.\n\n## What it means for your points\n\nUsing points at the hotel isn't new across the industry. But at many brands, it means asking the front desk and waiting while staff process it. Hilton's version puts it in the app, which should make it faster.\n\nThe open question is value. Hilton Honors points are usually worth the most when you use them for free nights, especially at higher-priced hotels. Paying for things like dining or parking with points may give you less value per point, depending on the rate Hilton uses. Since Hilton has not published that rate, it's worth checking what the app offers before you redeem.\n\nIf you have a small balance that isn't enough for a free night, though, this could be a handy way to put those points to work. It could also help members who want to cover a surprise charge at check-out.\n\n## What to watch\n\nWatch for three things as the rollout grows. First, which charges qualify. Second, the value Hilton gives per point. Third, whether the benefit ever opens to members without elite status. Hilton has only said the benefit is for Silver status and above.\n\n## What people are saying on X\n\n<https://x.com/all4season_/status/2114575245835211166>\n\n## Sources\n\n* [Hilton press release: Hilton becomes first major hotel brand to offer digital solution to pay with points](https://stories.hilton.com/releases/hilton-becomes-first-major-hotel-brand-to-offer-digital-solution-to-pay-with-points)","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
