The Montreal-based leisure airline says the program is open for enrollment now, [according to its press release](https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/air-transat-unveils-staria-the-joy-of-travel-rewarded-802691794.html).\n\nStaria is built around vacation travel, not business trips. Transat says it is designed for people who fly once in a while as well as frequent flyers. The release describes three parts: points, stars and \"constellations.\"\n\n## How Staria points work\n\nMembers earn Staria points on eligible purchases. They can use those points to pay for part or all of an eligible Air Transat flight or Transat vacation package.\n\nPoints do not cover taxes and airport fees, the release says. So even a fully paid award will still carry some cash cost.\n\nTransat has not published an earning rate or a points value in its release. Members who want those details will need to read the program terms on the [Air Transat website](https://www.airtransat.com).\n\n## Stars are earned between trips\n\nThe second part of the program is stars. Members collect stars by taking part in what Transat calls \"interactive activities\" between trips.\n\nStars unlock a choice of rewards. The release lists a few examples:\n\n* Seat selection on an upcoming flight\n* A meal from the onboard Bistro menu\n* Bonus points on a future purchase\n\nThe release does not say how many stars each reward takes or what the activities are.\n\n## Constellations let up to nine people pool points\n\nThe third part is a shared balance. Up to nine members can combine their points in a \"constellation\" and redeem them from a single balance.\n\nThat is aimed at families and groups who travel together. Pooling is common in some programs, but not all. [Aeroplan's family sharing](https://www.pointsfrog.com/news/aeroplan-family-sharing-existing-pools-and-new-pool-restrictions), for example, has its own rules on who can join a pool.\n\n## A credit card is coming in 2027\n\nStaria has two strategic partners: Desjardins and Visa. They will offer credit cards that earn Staria points on everyday purchases and come with extra benefits.\n\nTransat says the card details will be announced when the cards launch later in 2027. There is no card to apply for yet.\n\nThe airline also says Staria will add new partners over time, giving members more ways to earn points.\n\n## What Transat says it wants\n\nAnnick Guérard, Transat's president and CEO, said Staria is meant to give customers more reasons to choose Air Transat and keep flying with it. She also called Staria \"a key driver of growth and revenue diversification for Transat.\"\n\nGarcí Iñigo, Transat's vice president of marketing and loyalty, said the airline's ambition is \"to build a brand that inspires travel dreams, not just transactions.\"\n\n## Where Air Transat flies\n\nAir Transat was founded in Montreal in 1987. Its main hubs are Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) and Toronto Pearson (YYZ). The airline flies mainly to Europe, the Caribbean, South America and North Africa, according to the release.\n\nTransat says passengers voted it the 2026 World's Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards.\n\n## What we don't know yet\n\nThe release leaves out several details that matter to points collectors:\n\n* How many points members earn per dollar spent\n* What a point is worth when used toward a flight\n* Whether points expire\n* How stars are earned and how many each reward costs\n* Whether Staria will link with any other airline program\n\nAir Transat is not part of a major airline alliance, so Staria looks like a stand-alone program for now. Points used against a fare work more like a travel credit than a classic award chart. That can be simple to use, but it also means the value of a point is likely tied to cash prices.\n\n## Should you sign up?\n\nIf you fly Air Transat or book Transat vacation packages, joining costs nothing to try. Families may find the constellation feature useful, since small balances can be combined.\n\nIf you rarely fly Transat, there is less reason to rush. The credit cards are not out yet, and the earning rates have not been made public in the release.\n\nWe'll update readers when Transat and Desjardins share card details.\n\n## What people are saying on X\n\nTravel trade accounts in Quebec shared the launch on X on Nov. 2.\n\n<https://x.com/ExpertEnVoyages/status/2117248633024524356>\n\n## Sources\n\n* [Transat A.T.
